Basic Oral Health Tips

During the Oral Health Month last February, a leading toothpaste brand held activities nationwide that helped promote good oral health.

Aside from the activities promoting good oral health, Colgate also gave away numerous dental health kits which included the following: one (1) 75ml Colgate plus Sugar Acid Neutralizer, one (1) Colgate SlimSoft toothbrush, and one (1) Colgate Plax sachet. Shown below are the dental health kits I got for my hubby and for myself after taking part in Colgate’s pledge for zero cavities.

Colgate’s efforts for a better and improved oral health among Filipinos I think deserves commendation. Colgate also promoted these very helpful and Basic Oral Health Tips:

  • Two minutes – this is the time it takes to brush teeth properly!
  • Eat a balanced diet with vitamins and minerals! Healthy body, healthy mouth!
  • Visit your dentist regularly, or at least every six months, to keep your mouth clean and healthy.
  • Brush 3 times a day to remove plaque and keep smiling!
  • Take your child along to your routine check-up so they can see how nice the dentists can be!
  • When brushing, use short, gentle strokes while paying extra attention to the hard-to-reach places!
  • Brush with your child so he or she can follow you and learn how to brush the right way.
  • Protect baby’s teeth from bacteria and early cavities. Use a damp cloth to wipe baby’s teeth and gums after feeding and before bedtime.
  • Replace your toothbrush every 3 months with a brand new one to keep cavities at bay.
  • Floss away, at least once a day to reach residue stuck between teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach.
  • Do you brush where you flush? Bacteria particles can travel in the air, so put the toilet seat down after use and use a toothbrush cover.
  • Consult your dentist about using the toothpaste that’s right for you whether you have sensitive teeth, issues with gum health or want a total mouth clean.

I hope that even if it is no longer Oral Health Month, we will keep in mind these basic oral health tips for a healthier you and me.
