Truth or Fiction? Man to Undergo World’s 1st Head Transplant
Yes, you’ve read it right. It’s head transplant, not heart transplant.
Dr. Sergio Canavero, an Italian surgeon claims that he can cut off the man’s head and attach it to a healthy donor body. And while critics have begun calling Dr. Canavero as Dr. Frankenstein, a disabled man from Moscow has come forward, willing to volunteer to undergo what would be the world’s first head transplant.
Valery Spiridonov, 30, a computer scientist by profession, suffers from a fatal muscle-wasting disease. His condition is also deteriorating every year which has pushed him, despite any fears, to try the head transplant procedure. He looks forward to undergo the 36-hour procedure by next year.
As for me, I am not sure if I will ever consider going through this procedure, if indeed it can be made possible. But with Valery Spiridonov’s condition, I can understand why he would want to go through it. Learn more about him from the short video below:
