I have mentioned in my past posts that both my parents succumbed to cancer, my mother in 2001 and my father in 2009. One of the treatments my father received for his disease was radiation therapy or radiotherapy although ultimately he refused to finish it, telling us, his children, that he was ready to go and would not want anymore treatment. Anyhow, before he underwent radiation, we also did some research on its possible side effects. It’s only much later that I understood that one side effect of radiation is radiation necrosis as shown in the infographic above. Thankfully, there is a treatment for this side effect as well: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or Hyperbaric medicine is the medical use of oxygen at a level higher than atmospheric pressure. It’s also interesting and helpful to know that Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can also be used to treat other diseases such as AIDS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and even Lyme Disease. We are also assured in using it as it is an FDA-approved therapy. You can read more information about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy here.
Now, what about you? Do you have loved ones who could benefit from Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy? Would you like to know more about it?
