Facing COVID-19

When I first heard of the new Corona virus which seemed to be causing havoc in China in December 2019, it seemed like a very distant story.

Well, not anymore today.

In my corner of the the world, as of today (March 26), there are now 707 cases in the Philippines with 45 fatalities. And as I write, my city here in Mindanao, Philippines is in Community Quarantine.

For our reference, I am sharing here an Infographic from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) which gives us basic information about the virus, symptoms, prevention and transmission.

I am also sharing here a helpful site where we can check the current number of COVID-19 cases worldwide from the Worldwide COVID-19 Tracker from Johns Hopkins University Corona Virus Resource Center. Just click on a country to find the number of Confirmed COVID-19 cases, Deaths as well as Recovered and Active cases.

Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering constantly updates the tracker from various sources worldwide including the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, 1point3acres, Worldometers.info,BNO, state and national government health departments, local media reports, and the DXY, one of the world’s largest online communities for physicians, health care professionals, pharmacies and facilities.

Let’s continue to be vigilant. Take care of yourself and be sure to stay home to lessen risk for yourself and for others to get the virus.
